Joint Venture of EMI and BMG Issues New Music Library Collection Specifically For Promos, Logos & Opens

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (June 1, 2003) Associated Production Music (APM), a joint venture of the EMI and BMG music publishing groups, which provides music selection services and exclusive licensing rights to 17 different libraries of recorded music for use in film, television and radio production, will release the new APM Promo Music Collection of 100 compact discs, on June 4th at PROMAX/BDA 2003in Los Angeles. The collection consists of the best promo music in all genres from APM’s vast collection and includes Bruton’ recently released Big Shorts and Sonoton’s New Impact promo music CD sets.

“Our music directors went through our library of over 175,000 tracks and assembled a 100-CD collection of APM’s best music for producers of on-air television promos looking to grab viewers and evoke an immediate visceral reaction,” said Adam Taylor, president of APM. “If you’re in the business of creating title sequences, show opens, interstitial graphics, commercials and logo animations, APM’s Promo Music Collection is for you,” continued Mr. Taylor.

To help producers on deadline find the right music for their spots, the APM Promo Music Collection is conveniently organized by subject-matter genre, including drama, comedy, sports, human interest/reality-based and children’s/family formats, as well as by musical style featuring everything from the latest contemporary genres to emotional, cinematic scores. The actual 100-CD set and case is available to promo producers at no charge and includes a section for APM to customize additional selections based on each client’s needs.

“In promos, you have a limited amount of time to get your point across. Music that quickly sets the stage for an emotional response is critical,” said Edwina Travis-Chin, 15-year veteran music director in APM’s Los Angeles headquarters, who played a key role in assembling the new collection. “APM’s Promo Music Collection is all the promo music you need to support provocative voice-overs and emotionally charged visuals, in one user-friendly, portable package,” continued Ms. Travis-Chin.

To put together the Promo Music Collection, APM combined selections from its diverse range of libraries, each of which has its own distinct musical style. The new collection features the best promo music from the KPM, Bruton, Sonoton, Carlin, Kosinus, NFL Films and Castle production music libraries.

Some of the on-air television programs and networks using promo music from APM include Discovery’s “Critical Rescue,” HBO’s “Sex in the City,” NBC, Nickelodeon, “That 70s Show” and The WB.

Associated Production Music, a joint venture of EMI Music Publishing (the world’s largest music publisher) and BMG Music Publishing (a division of Bertelsmann AG) provides the United States and Canada with music selection services and exclusive licensing rights to 17 different music libraries specifically for use in film, television, radio, recording and new media.

With more than 175,000 different musical tracks to choose from, APM’s catalog comprises the largest and most diverse collections of original music available to entertainment and media producers, from contemporary electronica, hip-hop and rock to classical and everything in between.

To assist clients in finding and choosing the right music for their productions, APM offers a variety of complimentary rapid response support services. The company’s full-time staff of music directors with over 50 years combined experience help clients find the type of music they want, even when don’t know exactly what they are looking for. APM provides direct access to its libraries through PLAY Music Finder, a proprietary search and download system, accessible via the Internet at www.apmmusic.com.
